Hammer Farmhouse… Addition!

We’ve been in our farmhouse for almost 2 years now and we are BUSTING at the seams.

Almost every day I find myself anxiously sifting through Zillow listings looking at massive 20 bedroom spec homes with 5 toilets… as my kids yell and scream and refuse to sleep and my old dying dog poops on another perfectly perfect rug.

I’ve been so close to selling this sucker probably 20 times. It’s just… small. And not that small bothers us, but small without a space to get away or just be alone is the worst part.

SO we are excited to FINALLY announce…

WE’RE ADDING ON!!!!

WE’RE ADDING… 2 BEDROOMS, A MASTER BATH AND A MASSIVE BONUS ROOM TO PUT ALL.OUR.JUNK IN AND PROBABLY NEVER USE BUT, I’M PUMPED!

I did a shotty job posting about the design and construction process of our initial renovation and I refuse to do that again. While I haven’t wrapped my mind around how everything is going to look, I do have a clear vision of what I like this time around.

And it’s not “modern farmhouse.”

The whites… and blacks… and shiplap… and patterned tile is… overdone (sorry not sorry). I’m leaning European rustic. I want it to feel warm and authentic, with rich textures. Here are some inspiration images and I’ll share more detailed plans soon!!

Wish us luck!

  1. So glad you are doing it instead of selling. You have a beautiful spot and I would hate to see you leave it. Adding on will be wonderful for your growing family. We had a great site once with our growing family and moved. We have not been able to get that home with a view again. It does take patience.
